Tom Watson
Charter Pilot | Grade 3 Flight Instructor
Tom grew up in Charters Towers before moving to Townsville for high school. After exploring several professions, including mining, he discovered his passion for aviation and began flight training in 2019 through the Bachelor of Aviation program at Central Queensland University.
Upon obtaining his licence, Tom moved to the Northern Territory, where he worked as a charter pilot flying both single-engine and multi-engine aircraft. His flying experience was diverse transporting military officials and government workers to bases, serving remote Northern Australian communities, flying guests to luxury resorts, and managing a variety of unique charter requests that made every day an adventure. Alongside flying, Tom also undertook an apprenticeship as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, gaining valuable insight into the technical side of keeping aircraft airworthy.
In 2025, Tom returned to Townsville and joined the National Aviation Academy as a Grade 3 Flight Instructor. He is passionate about sharing the knowledge and experience he gained in the Northern Territory with aspiring pilots and enjoys guiding students as they begin their own aviation careers.
